ELDER FUTHARK - Game Rererence; Real-Life History
Return to Top Definition: The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabet, used by Germanic tribes for Proto-Norse and other Migration period Germanic dialects of the 2nd to 8th centuries for inscriptions on artefacts (jewelry, amulets, tools, weapons) and rune stones. In Brigandine: The Runes are used as parts of various terminology in original Brigandine. Their role is expanded in the Grand Edition to affect gameplay.

Specifically, the Grand Edition splits each month of the Sacred King Calendar in two. Each half-month is annotated with one Rune taken in order from Elder Futhark. Thus, as in original Brigandine one year consisted of twelve turns, in the Grand Edition one year lasts twenty-four turns.
