I LIKE NOT BEING KING
Starring:

VAYNARD

GUINGLAIN
Forsena / Countries / Norgard

CONDITIONS:

Vaynard: Guinglain, about the reinforcements which we brought up in the meeting... Take a look at this.

Guinglain: Let's see... Yes, I think this will be enough.

Vaynard: How long will it take to get the reinforcements?

Guinglain: About a few days.

Vaynard: A few days? You're well prepared, aren't you? You would have made a better King than I.

Guinglain: Please don't say that... I never had an interest in becoming a King, even though I am a part of the Roayal Family. I don't know what I'll do if I was King...

Vaynard: How about conquering the entire realm?

Guinglain: It's not of my interest to conquer the world. I would rather help you in doing so, your majesty. I like my position as the advisor. After all, advisors are the leaders of the countries, as we even make the Lords do things we want. It's more interesting this way.

Vaynard: Interesting? Do you think of me as a pawn on a chessboard?

Guinglain: Of course not. But if you were a piece on the chessboard, you owuld be the most important piece. One that I would risk my life to protect. I'll do whatever I can to help you conquer the world.

Vaynard: Guinglain...

NOTE: If you've never played Norgard before you might take the mention of reinforcements literally. Don't go getting your hopes up. There are no free monsters or anything coming your way. This scene is just meant to give us a further look into the personalities of Norgard's two leading men.

Analysis: I think there's another reason Guingalin doesn't want to be King. It's a long shot, but perhaps he has feelings for Brangien. As evidence I cite his words to her upon her first appearance in the game. Also, he's quite a smart guy, yet he seems to take no notice of how Faticia's heartbeat increases tenfold when he's around. Well, perhaps he does notice, but chooses to keep a professional relationship with Faticia. But, just maybe, he doesn't notice because he's holding a secret candle for Brangien. And were he king, Brangien would hate him instead of Vaynard.
